Welcome to the Chemistry course homepage for Kansas City, KS Public Schools. This site contains resources for students, parents and teachers that will support student learning and success in Chemistry. Above are links to the topics covered in the course divided into units of study.
Students in Chemistry are required to pass both the multiple choice and performance sections of 10 unit (benchmark) tests. Doing so will result in a letter grade of “C”. Higher grades are earned in the following way:
11 unit (benchmark) tests passed - “C+”
12 unit (benchmark) tests passed - “B”
13 unit (benchmark) tests passed - “A”
14 unit (benchmark) tests passed - “A+”
Each high school has systems in place to provide extra support to students needing help in completing their benchmarks. These systems include after school tutoring, extra help during the school day, extended school following the end of the school year in May and summer school.
